This section of the ArcGIS Server documentation covers the initial administration steps of designing and setting up an ArcGIS Server site, except the installation steps. Content includes deployment architecture diagrams, best practices for site design, practical information about software components, and workflows for expanding your site.
Plan your site
Before you begin to deploy your ArcGIS Server site, review the contents of this section. You'll learn about recommended site architecture patterns, the tools included with ArcGIS Server that accommodate changes in network traffic, and how to deploy the software on virtual machines.
Install ArcGIS Server software
To install ArcGIS Server, see the installation guide that's included with ArcGIS Server software. While you're installing it on your machines, you can refer to the help links provided in the install wizard or command line utility. You can also view the installation guide on the ArcGIS Enterprise documentation site, unless your organization uses a disconnected environment.
Configure your site
Once you've installed ArcGIS Server software on your machines, refer to this documentation for configuration tasks to get your site assembled and running. There are steps to create or join a site, configure a multiple-machine site, and connect to ArcGIS Server from ArcGIS Desktop or ArcGIS Pro.
Upgrade your site
If you're upgrading ArcGIS Server from an earlier version, see the steps and tips on how to do so efficiently. There's also information on migrating an ArcGIS Server 10.0 site to 10.7.
Integrate with ArcGIS Enterprise
ArcGIS Server can be deployed in an ArcGIS Enterprise deployment. At the center of this configuration is the relationship between ArcGIS Server and an ArcGIS Enterprise portal. When you've created and configured your ArcGIS Server site, you can integrate it with your ArcGIS Enterprise portal following the steps in this section.
Stand-alone sites
ArcGIS Server can also be deployed as a stand-alone system, without being federated with an ArcGIS Enterprise portal. Information in this section can help you plan a stand-alone ArcGIS Server site configuration and includes steps to configure such a site.
